Several games, notably Halo titles, use the cache to loadĮxtra, non-essential data and offer enhancements, such as more diverse in-game dialogue. Most games operate perfectly fine without this cache. On Xbox 360, the internal hard drive has a section reserved to operate as a game cache, located on the fastest, outside portion of the drive. I thought the external hard drive would work the same as the internal hard drive but maybe I am wrong or have done something wrong?Īny ideas or help? I can't be the only one who is aggravated with this problem?įour years late, but here's deal for this situation. Crazy!!!Īm I out of luck and have to break down and buy an internal hard drive and waste more money.
Xbox 360 2tb internal hard drive install#
I hooked up a brand new 500gb external USB drive and the Xbox seemed to format and recognize the drive but when I try and install say Titanfall, it still says that the external hard drive is not a valid option. Can you now install these games to the external hard drive and play or do you still need to have an internal hard drive installed which would be very annoying to say the least.ĭoes anyone have knowledge of this problem and have a solution or work around to get the games to work or install to the external hard drive? Since the newest update allows you to add up to 2TB of external storage.
My question is this-> I have three games (Need for Speed Rivals, Titanfall and BF4) which I currently can not install because a pop up keeps coming up that I need to have an internal hard drive to install the extra content and then play. I do not have an internal hard drive installed at this time. I have a Xbox 360 slim 4gb version which I have recently updated to the newest dash which allows you to use external hard drives up to 2TB of storage space.
